I got my copy of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Eating well after WLS. It is a great resource for anyone who has had WLS or is contemplating WLS. It gives insight to all WLS options and the special nutritional guidelines that each procedure needs. It includes many great ideas and recipes for both WLS patients and those just wanting to eat healthier. This book included many support group websites and blogs. I would recommend this book to any new WLS patient or anyone considering WLS.

I was waiting for The Complete Idiot's Guide to Eating Well After WLS to be released with great anticipation. I have read Ms. Furtado's previous book and many articles she has written so I was anxious to read this book. This book exceeded my expectations. It is an excellent book. It is a superb resource for anyone considering weight loss surgery, support persons, pre-ops and post-ops alike. There is information for anyone at any stage of the weight loss surgery process. I am a post-op since 2001 and I find it invaluable personally and professionally. I conduct weight loss surgery trainings in my job and the information Ms. Furtado shares in her book is very complete.

I recommend this book highly.

While I am not a patient who has had bariatric sugery, I have found this book to be an excellent resource of information for people of all sizes. The recipes alone are so helpful and they provide the nutritional values, which reinforce the teaching elements in reading store labels, which is an area of much confusion. The authors have broken down the information in a manner which is easy to understand and meaningful in its interpretation with side bar comments and glossaries. People who are overweight or obese need positive reinforcement tools to keep them motivated for success. I am very happy to have this book as an every day resource manual and recipe guideline for healthy meals. I would recommend the book to anyone who has an interest in making better food choices.

I am just over one year since my Gastric Bypass surgery and had anxiously awaited the release of Margaret Furtado's "Idiot" book. I was, by no means, disappointed. I found her book to be extremely helpful to me; however, I also feel that any person who is anticpating weight loss surgery would also benefit greatly from this book. The book is jam-packed with information and helpful hints on post-surgery eating, pitfalls, proteins, fluid intake, food labels, avoiding future weight gain and recipes. I feel what sets this book apart from others that I have read is the multitude of wonderful nutrition information! Much of the nutrition information applies not only Weight Loss Surgery patients, but to anyone who is concerned with nutrition and good health! It's written in an easy-to-read format. This book is not simply "another recipe book". I consider the recipes to be an "added bonus" in this informational, reference book.

This the is second book that I bought in preparation for my future as a gastric bypass patient, which I will be getting in 5 days. This book arrived 2 days ago and I was VERY disappointed when I learned that recipes it has are all foo-foo foods. If you like "normal" food, this is not the book for you. I found that it contained a large quantity of recipes that had ingredients that I couldn't find at my local grocery store!

If you don't care for fancy stuff (like the kinds of foods that Lean Cuisine makes), then don't get this book. There are no normal meat and potatoes types of things here.

Bummer! I was hoping to eventually get away from the protein powders, but not at the rate I'm going!
